Grounded Drops Drip Coffee Bags

As much as we love seeing everyone’s incredible coffee machine setups, we simply don’t have the space or canopy layout to carry one. Because of that, we’ve tried all sorts of ways to get our morning coffee hit and ease into the day.

Our First Impressions
When our package arrived, we were met with a subtle coffee aroma and a personalised handwritten note, which was a nice touch. We chose the Wayfarer and Nemophilist 36 bag pantry packs since they’re recommended for black coffee drinkers. Grounded Drops has a range of blends, pack sizes and even a travel option where each drip bag is individually wrapped.
Each pantry pack comes in a foil bag that keeps the coffee grounds fresh and contains the smell, which Jess learnt about the hard way. Once you tear open the resealable foil bag you’re instantly hit with the incredible aroma of what’s waiting inside.

Tested
We’ve been starting our mornings with Grounded Drops for a little over a year now and it hasn’t let us down once. Some days it feels like it’s the only way we can face each other, let alone the rest of the world. We’ve brewed these bags using everything from a 240v kettle to a billy on the fire, a Jetboil and any other way we can heat water. They’ve travelled with us through almost every State and Territory in Australia.

Pros and Cons
The simplest way to put it is that the coffee tastes great and gets us ready for the day. The drip bag wings fit on almost any cup. The beans are air roasted which removes the outer husk and helps reduce bitterness. We aren’t sure exactly how much caffeine is in each cup but we can confirm it works. There’s also a decaf blend for anyone who is caffeine sensitive or prefers a gentler afternoon coffee.
If you’re unsure which blend to choose, Grounded Drops offers a sample box with three different bean options.
For iced coffee fans, they also have cold brew bags. We haven’t tested them yet but we do have some ready to try. If you’ve already used them, let us know your go to method.
A couple of things to keep in mind. Try not to open the drip bag in strong wind as the grounds can blow out a little. The wings can occasionally feel awkward to use but that might say more about our pre coffee coordination than the bags themselves.
Also, don’t do what Jess did and take the bags out of the main foil pack. Our car smelled strongly of coffee until everything was sealed back inside. The faint smell lasted for a few weeks. We love coffee but it can get overpowering when it takes over the car.

The Final Score
We can’t compare these drip bags to a proper barista made coffee, but they’re easily the next best thing and sit well above standard instant options. They’re simple to use, light to pack, quick to make and taste incredible.
