We don’t recommend gear lightly.

After years of full-time travel across Australia, we’ve put our setup through just about everything. Corrugations, dust, long hauls and remote tracks where things simply have to work.

We’ve tried a lot of gear along the way. Some of it didn’t last. Some of it didn’t live up to the hype. What you’ll find here is what’s stayed in our setup and proven itself time and time again.

If we don’t use it, we don’t recommend it.

Tucked along the Murray near Torrumbarry, this free camp is one of those spots that just gets it right… quiet, easy to access, and proper riverfront views.

We rolled in thinking it’d be a quick overnight… ended up slowing right down, chopping some firewood, and watching the sunset do its thing.

Fair warning… you probably won’t leave when you planned 😅

We ran clip-on towing mirrors for over 5 years… and honestly, we thought that was just part of towing.

The vibration, constantly adjusting them, putting them on and taking them off every time… and always wondering if they were going to fall off.

Switching to the @msa4x4 power fold mirrors just made everything easier.

No messing around, no vibration… just a clear view and a much better towing experience.

Should’ve done it sooner.

Ever had one of those moments where you wish you could replay what was just said? 😅

That’s exactly why this setup has been such a solid addition to the D-Max.

The in-car UHF makes it easy to stay connected on the road, whether it’s convoy comms, quick updates, or just having a bit of fun between vehicles… but the instant replay feature is the one that really stands out.

It’s one of those things you don’t think you need… until you use it.

We’ll be putting it through its paces as we keep travelling, but so far it’s been a super clean and practical setup.

Out on the road a good UHF is one of those things you l la don’t think about… until you need it. From convoy chats to road trains calling their moves, it’s a must-have when travelling around Australia.

Looking forward to putting these to the test on the next stretch of road. 📡🚙

5 reasons we still haven’t settled down after almost 5 years!

1. We’re always getting itchy feet.
Just when we start to feel comfortable somewhere, the urge to explore somewhere new kicks in again.

2. There are too many amazing places in Australia we could call home.
One week it’s a quiet lake like this, the next it’s red dirt, the coast, or the bush. Picking just one place feels impossible.

3. We genuinely love this lifestyle.
Slow mornings, coffee outside the van, and the freedom to go wherever the road takes us.

4. Don’t like the front yard? We can just move.
One of the perks of travelling is that if the view isn’t quite right… tomorrow we can find a better one.

5. People (hear us out).
We love meeting incredible people on the road, but we also really value quiet time to recharge our social battery.

Maybe one day we’ll settle down.
But for now, we’re still enjoying the journey.
